Several ways to reduce the stress related to the beginning of studies

It is considered that student life is the best time: new acquaintances, new knowledge, parties and just a pleasant pastime with friends!

However, while for some people this is true, others are under tremendous stress. This may be due to the fact that you are not given peace of mind about your future and you immediately begin to plan ahead. And instead of, for example, relaxing on vacation, you begin to deal with your resume or try to earn money for pocket expenses. Too much work and different experiences in detail - all this can lead to both moral and physical exhaustion. It is very important to understand the causes of stress in order to learn how to cope with it. Next, I'll tell you a few ways to help yourself or to overcome the stress associated with the first month of study.

1. Avoid nostalgia for the home

Distance can also cause stress. Of course, you will first enjoy a new breath of freedom, but there will be a moment when you will realize that now you are really on your own. Be mentally prepared for the fact that now you need to take care of yourself - understanding this will give positive energy and less stress. You grow up and now you have to decide all the difficulties yourself. As soon as you get used to it, anxiety and nostalgia for the home will immediately go away.

2. New acquaintances.

The ability to make new acquaintances is a very important skill that shapes the circle of your friends. Meet your classmates from the day you arrive. New acquaintances will expand your horizons and help you look at things from the other side.

3. Academic success

Striving for high standards can also cause stress. Since the average score is often important when considering for work, this puts some pressure on students. To avoid this, try to understand the essence of the subject, and do not memorize everything by heart without comprehension of what has been read. Also, it will not be superfluous to read additional information from other sources in order to understand the subject more broadly.

4. Organize your work

At the university you should learn how to organize your schedule and make your own decisions. Being responsible is the first step in adulthood. Your life will change, so prioritize correctly and balance your studies and rest.

5. Get enough sleep

Students who do not get enough sleep are always under great stress. Sleep is a very important aspect, and it not only recharges the entire body, but also strengthens the immune system. Lack of sleep can cause both physical and psychological problems. This also affects thinking processes and the ability to soberly assess the situation. Try to fall asleep and wake up at the same time - then you will have a healthy dream and you will start to feel better. Try to sleep at least 8 hours a day.

6. Go in for sports

Physical exercises help reduce stress. Sport helps the body to produce the hormone endorphin, which helps improve mood! Intensive exercise, at least once a week, or a daily walk of 30 minutes, will help reduce stress. Yoga is also a great way to relax the body and thoughts. Try to exercise regularly - and even if you do not feel the changes immediately, you will surely feel them later!

But if you have tried all the methods, it did not become easier for you, but on the contrary it got worse, for example, a decrease in appetite, sleep disturbance, constant fatigue, avoidance of society, then you should always go to a psychologist and get qualified psychological help and advice.

The psychologist's office is situated in the main building of our university 3  floor 301 room
